Kimmeridge CRT said its members had been training when they were first alerted to Willow’s predicament near Chapmans Pool.
Rope experts were needed to access the beach where Willow was said to be running up and down.
“After being very patient and handing over some very exciting dog treats they soon managed to gain the trust of Willow,” the coastguard team said.
“Slowly managing to get her into the dog recovery bag, the [rescuers] then recovered her to safety at the top of the cliff.”
It described her as “one very lucky spaniel”.
